Metamorphosis
Ah, the butterfly, what teachings can I receive from you? As creation kept showing me the butterfly, my heart lead me to paint this mystical being, to be with the beauty, and learn the deep wisdom of the butterfly, and to share it.
The life cycle of these creatures is pure magic- Beginning with the Egg then hatching into a caterpillar that then develops a chrysalis by hanging upside down and shedding its old caterpillar self. After this happens it metamorphosis, changing itself within on a cellular and DNA level, transforming into a butterfly. It then begins extending its wings, allowing blood flow and building muscle for flight to be able to emerge from the chrysalis as a butterfly. Wow!
Creation always so gracefully teaches, and this miraculous phenomenon has so much divine wisdom. Transformation and metamorphosis, as what happens to the butterfly, is the biological process that creates change and growth from one form into a completely different one.
Metaphysically, we are always changing, evolving, growing, and the life/death cycle is something we are all a part of, but the butterfly truly shows us what transformations can take place during this cycle. I wondered and wondered how this all related, and it so strongly came through as a divine symbol for what we as a collective are going through. In a way it feels like we are going through a metamorphosis, and we too must shed our old selves, and these old systems if we are to transform and emerge anew.
Each of us as individuals must shed that which no longer serves our higher self, shed old patterns, and conditionings, and heal our traumas. Doing this helps us show up collectively to shed our old systems, and the idea that we are separate. This idea alone has been the seed for so much wrongdoing. We are seeing this shedding happen before us as the truths behind our systems are exposed. We too must go inward and change from the inside out like the caterpillar does. The pandemic, in a way, has literally made us go inward, slow down, and “cocoon ourselves” to start this transformation.
As individuals we must change the way we think of ourselves. We must believe we belong, that we are not separate, that we are Love, and are capable of loving, Unconditionally. Truly, believing this does change you on a cellular level. Believe you are love and embody it. We must collectively believe in the love we are, the solidarity we are, the equality we are, the humanity we are, and know that we belong and that we are not separate. Imagine you are a cell in the collective going through a metamorphosis to transform every aspect of this system that is no longer for the greater good of humanity. This takes conscious effort, this take humility and heart to transcend all thats been built from fear. This takes the lens of seeing everything as you, not separate from. A caterpillar couldn’t look more different than the Butterfly, but they are of the same DNA. So are we as a collective.
A dear friend shared with me that If you were to come across a butterfly moving in it’s cocoon and decided to open the cocoon for it, it would not know how to fly and end up dying. What seems to be a struggle in the cocoon, is truly the building of muscle that allows the butterfly to spread its wings and take flight. As individuals, we go through this process when we allow ourselves to be with the uncomfortable, our own pain, our own trauma, our fears, and then forgive that which does not serve us to make space for receiving the strength, compassion, and love that allows us to take flight as our own true selves. And as a collective we are grieving together, we are meeting the wounds of our nations past, we are exposing the truths of our broken systems and its important to remember what we are building strength for, it’s important to hold space for this dismantling and extremely important we fill this space as it sheds with unconditional Love. Lets honor this part of the cycle as a building of the very muscle that allows us to soar free together into a new world. We will go through many metamorphosis cycles, this is just the one we are in, and this is the one that matters, for it is a birth of a new world where together we get to co-create in a way that honors our connection as brothers and sisters living as part of this sacred land.
As the caterpillar, we have been consuming and consuming. It seems that it’s a time to transform so we can give back, as the butterfly pollinates and gifts life.
This is one perspective and I don’t know it to be true, but feel that it’s in alignment. As I finished this painting I was urged to paint a violet light halo around it- violet light is the healing light of transcendence and transmuting of negative energy into positive energy. Anytime I have ever done energy healing, I have always seen trapped energy transform into dozens of butterflies and I envision this light around the world right now. This has been the teachings of the butterfly for me. Maybe this all feels true to you as well, or not at all. Any which way, now is a good time to check-in with yourself, go inward and feel deeply, be with nature and connect deeply to your roots, your Mother. Feel the ground support you and know where you stand. What are your visions for humanity? Connect with others in this way as well. It is also a good time to listen, pay attention, and be open to changing your perspective, changing in general, because we are this very moment. Be gentle, kind, and love unconditionally.
