Biography

Sophia Foster is 29 years old, was born and raised in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and lived there until she started attending Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) where she studied two years before studying abroad at Paris College of Art for six months. After studying abroad Sophia transferred to Portland State University (PSU) where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2016. Throughout Sophia’s career as an artist her work has been shown in the Foundations Exhibition at MICA (2012), in the show Here at BRKLYN in Paris, France (2013), and in Portland OR in the Autzen Gallery 50 Works Project Exhibition (2015), the Sugar Cube window gallery (2016), the show Emerging Developed in the Littman & White Gallery (2016), and most recently had a solo show More Than Honey in Aspen, CO at The Red Brick Gallery (2019). Sophia currently lives in Kauai, HI.


Inspired by the awe of life and our environment, Sophia Fosters work invites a remembering of our innate connection to this world as a sacred union and how intricately weaved we are within this world web. Her work revives the mundane and illuminates that the smallest of gestures expressed can create some of the greatest creations.
